Many companies choose a voice-directed solution to replace
one or more of the following solutions, because of the benefits
that a warehouse voice logistics solution provides. These
alternative technologies can also complement a Jennifer™
voice solution from Lucas, to maximize efficiency in certain
situations.
-
Pick to Light - Pick to light solutions can be a good fit
for certain applications where products are small, locations
are very dense, and your facility does not go through
significant expansion or reconfiguration. Generally, pick
to light systems place an emphasis on speed over accuracy.
But for many pick to light applications, the support costs
alone exceed the total cost of Jennifer voice
picking applications from Lucas.
-
RFID – It’s a great new
technology that is a good complement to, but not a replacement
for, a voice recognition solution. It can be nicely integrated
with Jennifer to support Pedigree applications for pharmaceutical
security, among other warehouse logistics applications.
-
Paper – Paper-based systems are the least expensive, but the most cumbersome and error-prone. A paper solution requires
extensive data entry and wasted movement on the floor
to record activities and capture information, impacting efficiency,
productivity and accuracy. As a result, many warehouses are replacing their paper picking, receiving, replenishment, loading and other systems.
-
Scanners – These devices eliminate
many of the challenges of paper picking, but they are
not hands-free, so they do not provide the speed and accuracy
improvements of other solutions. However, scanners can
be integrated with Jennifer where it adds value to use
both voice and scanning.
Using Jennifer for voice picking, voice replenishment, voice
put away, and other warehouse logistics activities is frequently
the most cost-effective solution for many distribution centers
and warehouses. Learn even more reasons by contacting us today.
