The Solution Consultant at Lucas Systems plays an integral role on our team by working directly with customers to identify opportunities to optimize their workflow and better engage their employees resulting in higher productivity, accuracy and service levels.

Working with our Sales team and our Lead Engineers, the Solution Consultant participates in sales discovery, creates a solution design, and develops the business case (ROI) to communicate the potential value and impact of the Lucas solution. They then work with the Commercial Software Project Managers and Lead Engineers to ensure the solution requirements and customer expectations are communicated and effectively addressed in the functional design and specifications of the solution. As Manager of the Project Management at Lucas Systems, you will own the P&L responsibility for all customer-facing projects and be responsible for a team of project managers who successfully manage software/process improvement projects from pre- through post-implementation. This is a hands-on position involving day-to-day management of projects alongside your team a percentage of the time. As the primary point of contact for the customer, Project Managers are responsible for reporting status and on-going nurturing of relationships in support of business expansion goals.

  • P&L responsibility of all customer-facing projects at Lucas, which includes change management/negotiations, invoice management, etc.
  • Manage and motivate team of project managers to ensure best practices in project management are followed as well as meeting business objectives related to our measures of a successful project that include: customer results, customer experience, Lucas experience, and Lucas results.
  • Develop project requirements, including participation in planning and design sessions with customers and Lucas engineering teams to determine the functional scope and deliverables of each project.

About this Role

As a Software Engineer in Test at Lucas, you will be able to:

  • Be the voice of the customer, assuring we do what is necessary to deliver a quality product.
  • Work with the project team and functional management to determine test objectives, resources, and manual and automated test strategies for the project as well as adoption of QA Tools in line with QA Goals.

  • As a trusted customer advisor, you will communicate an account strategy, including customer footprint, pain points and desired outcomes, to ensure all Lucas resources are leveraged to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Work with Engineering/Development to define product improvements and new solutions.
  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, speaking engagements, etc. to remain up-to-date on industry trends and issues impacting the customer base, elevate personal knowledge, and contribute to Lucas’ strategic growth plan and product roadmap.

 

Qualifications

  • Seasoned professional with proven track record of successfully maintaining existing accounts and/or selling into Distribution (Warehouse) / Manufacturing industries and large software / solution systems sales at the VP level or higher. (This must be demonstrated as a part of the interview process.
  • Minimum of three (3) years solution-based sales with a strong understanding of software.
  • BS in Marketing/Communications, Logistics, Computer Science, Engineering or significant and relevant work experience in addition to a different degree.
  • Ability to travel as needed to conduct business activities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background in distribution, logistics or manufacturing is preferred.

Position Summary

The Project Accountant will provide financial support, guidance and oversight for company projects; involved in all the financial aspects of the project lifecycle.  The Project Accountant’s primary responsibility is to support the finance team and the project team regarding contract performance, reporting, purchase orders, customer payments and any other duties related to the project. All items must be assessed and recorded in compliance with GAAP. This position reports to the company Controller.

Job Duties

  • Reviewing project budgets
  • Ongoing review and monitoring of project progress
  • Investigating variances
  • Tracking and forecasting project time (in conjunction with the project managers)
  • Revenue and expense recognition based on project progress (in accordance with GAAP)
  • Providing project managers with timely financial reports
  • Assess / forecast profitability of projects
  • Ensuring customers are billed
  • Managing customer collections
  • Preparing purchase orders for items required under the projects
  • Assistance in other areas of the accounting function, as needed

Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, or similar
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar would be advantageous
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a project accountant, or similar (project specialist)
  • Knowledge of project management process (PMP) as plus
  • Proficiency in electronic accounting systems, NetSuite preferred
  • Powerful skills in using spreadsheets (MS Excel) and other reporting tools
  • Ability to report and communicate to the project managers
  • Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets and financial forecasts
  • Extensive experience in project invoicing and billing
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting (GAAP)
  • Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration
  • Ability to multitask, including managing several projects simultaneously
