Our vision for warehouse
innovation is to:
These guiding principles ensure that we deliver better business results for our customers.
We take a people-centered approach, on creating tools that are easy to use and that integrate seamlessly with other systems. When we talk about ease of use, we mean for all users: front-line supervisors managing a team of workers;, hourly associates performing material handling tasks; and the IT staffers who keep DC systems running smoothly.

Twenty Five-Plus Years Of Industry Firsts
Lucas has consistently broken new ground in process and technology, often disproving conventional wisdom and redefining industry best-practices.
Long before Alexa and Siri, Lucas delivered Jennifer™: voice-directed mobile applications on multiple hardware platforms. We pioneered the use of Android wearables in the DC, and introduced AI-based optimization tools when AI was barely spoken of in supply chain circles. We innovate in three vital areas: AI and machine learning; speech and mobile applications; and technology-enabled process optimization.
Award-Winning Solutions: Recognizing our Innovation and Excellence
Making Operations Smarter With Artificial Intelligence
AI is integral to all of Lucas’ solutions, from the deep neural network technology in our speech recognition to Jennifer’s AI-based intelligent batching and dynamic slotting. These powerful technologies are always implemented with users in mind.
Our on-demand AI-based batching algorithms run millions of possible combinations in a split -second, so that users are never waiting for work. Likewise, our machine learning-based applications provide new insights and recommendations for managers, rather than taking control out of their hands.
Speech And Mobile Technology Optimized For DC Workers
We provide the most user-friendly software available on low-cost mobile devices, supporting voice, vision, and scanning.
To make that vision a reality, we worked with partners to develop a speech recognition platform that gives all users the best possible experience,— including people who struggle with other speech products. When we introduced the first Android-based voice-directed applications for the warehouse, many in the industry argued against using Android in the DC. Five years later, Android was the de facto standard.
Not all innovations pay off so quickly. For example, we’ve been testing RFID technology since the early 2000s but those pilots haven’t advanced to production, since the business case doesn’t support the technical-use-case yet. But we aren’t done experimenting!
Process Innovation Backed By Technology
Technology is only one part of the story. Our greatest strength is our ability to identify the right technology for the job, based on our deep process expertise and knowledge of warehouse operations.
Our engineers appreciate that minute process changes can yield big operational benefits:
And our software platform enables customers the ability to strike the optimal balance between speed and quality, based on their particular needs, even as those needs evolve.
