Lucas Systems Introduces Jennifer VoicePlus For Smartphones – Industry-First Voice Picking Solution
At MODEX 2014 Lucas Systems Is Introducing The First Voice-Directed Warehouse Solution For Smartphones, Combining Industrial Speech Recognition With Consumer Smarts
Lucas Systems, Inc., the leading innovator of warehouse productivity solutions for mobile workers and distribution center managers, today announced that Jennifer VoicePlus applications will be certified on smartphones, starting with the Samsung Galaxy S4. Lucas will be showing a live Jennifer voice picking demonstration on the Samsung Galaxy S4 this week in Booth 3523 at the MODEX 2014 trade show in Atlanta, the largest supply chain and material handling event in North America. The new Jennifer solution will be generally available in the second quarter of 2014.
Jennifer VoicePlus is designed to permit the seamless use of voice direction, speech recognition, visual user interfaces, and barcode scanning, similar to smartphone applications. The Jennifer solution for smartphones includes industrial-grade accessories to create a powerful, rugged, secure and economical solution for the warehouse.
“This new Jennifer VoicePlus solution for smartphones represents the next logical step in the evolution of our offering and in the continuation of our leadership in application innovation for the mobile worker in the warehouse,” says Jennifer Lachenman, VP of Product Strategy at Lucas Systems. “Smartphones are designed to support the use of voice, screen, and imaging, so they are a natural fit for Jennifer VoicePlus. More importantly, the smartphone ecosystem is driving mobile technology innovation and new types of smart and durable wearable devices that create the possibility of even more powerful, productive warehouse applications in the future. In the end, that’s what DC operators are looking for: solutions that will provide even greater operational efficiency, ease of use, and flexibility for a changing workforce.”
Jennifer VoicePlus solutions support end-to-end warehouse processes, not just voice picking, and include the Serenade Speech Recognition Platform, which provides superior recognition quality across languages, diverse users and accents, and noisy industrial environments. The new solution for the Samsung Galaxy S4, the world’s best-selling smartphone, includes additional third-party accessories, certified Bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth barcode scanners. Following the completion of field testing, the solution will be generally available in the second quarter of 2014.
“Lucas is the leader in delivering applications that make work easier and more productive for users, and in moving the warehouse market away from voice-only applications and proprietary voice-only hardware to more flexible and productive multi-modal applications running on standard mobile computers,” says Lachenman. “We will continue to deliver Jennifer voice applications on the widest possible range of industrial hardware platforms, in addition to smartphones and other new mobile and wearable devices. Our goal, from the day we were founded, is to leverage the best-available technology to deliver application innovations that our customers need to compete in the future.”
